Russia expresses gratitude to North Korea for army collaboration
(MENAFN) The governor of Russia’s Kursk region expressed appreciation on Saturday for North Korean military personnel who assisted with demining operations.
In a statement on Telegram, Alexander Khinshtein noted that engineers from the 528th Engineering-Sapper Regiment of the Korean People’s Army helped clear mines across the region.
Their efforts resulted in nearly 42,400 hectares (104,773 acres) of land cleared and over 1.5 million explosive devices neutralized, he said.
“This invaluable assistance enables the revival of our borderlands,” Khinshtein emphasized.
North Korean media reported Friday that the 528th Regiment had returned to North Korea after completing the mission assigned by the Workers’ Party of Korea in the Kursk region.
