China Dispatches 15th Batch of Internet Satellites into Orbit
(MENAFN) China successfully deployed the 15th group of low-orbit internet satellites on Tuesday, advancing the nation’s growing space-based communications infrastructure, according to state-run media.
The satellites were delivered into their targeted orbit by a Long March-6A rocket, launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province, media reported.
This follows China’s recent launch on Saturday, when the 14th group of internet satellites was sent into space aboard a Long March-8A carrier rocket, which “was successfully placed into the preset orbit,” according to reports.
The Long March-8A rocket, which debuted in February of this year, is capable of carrying up to 7 tons to a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 700 kilometers (434.9 miles).
