Türkiye's Stock Exchange Opens Tuesday Higher


(MENAFN) Turkish equities extended gains in early trading Tuesday, with the nation's primary stock gauge advancing as investor sentiment remained positive following the previous session's robust performance.

The BIST 100 index launched the trading day at 11,210.31 points, marking a 0.19% uptick equivalent to 20.81 points above Monday's closing level.

Monday's session delivered strong returns for Turkish equities, with the benchmark index surging 1.65% to settle at 11,189.50 points. Trading activity reached 148.3 billion Turkish liras, translating to approximately $3.48 billion in total transaction volume.

Currency markets showed the Turkish lira trading at 42.5640 against the US dollar as of 10 am local time (0700GMT). The euro exchanged at 49.5990 liras, while the British pound commanded 56.7860 liras.

Commodity markets reflected elevated precious metal valuations, with gold priced at $4,181.40 per ounce during morning trading. Energy markets saw Brent crude oil trading at $62.20 per barrel.

The morning snapshot captured Türkiye's financial markets navigating global economic crosscurrents amid domestic policy considerations and international commodity price movements.
