The roadmap highlights India's strengths and gaps, recommending focused investment in infrastructure, talent and industry partnerships.
Senior officials said the next five years will determine whether India becomes a global supplier of quantum technologies or remains import-dependent.
Chief Architect, NITI Frontier Tech Hub, Debjani Ghosh added that India must scale talent, strengthen research infrastructure and build secure value chains to establish itself as a trusted quantum partner globally.
Developed with IBM
The roadmap was prepared by NITI Aayog's Frontier Tech Hub in collaboration with IBM and an expert council of industry and academic leaders.
Impact on MSMEs
The quantum roadmap is expected to open new opportunities for MSMEs in areas such as quantum-secure communications, precision manufacturing, advanced materials and specialised components.
Start-ups and small tech firms could benefit from early participation in emerging quantum value chains, while improved cybersecurity and digital infrastructure may enhance operational resilience for MSMEs across sectors.
