(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated this on Facebook, Ukrinform notes.

"As of today, 21 countries are participating in PURL, with total commitments of $4.18 billion," the foreign minister said.

He recalled that his visit to NATO headquarters alone brought nearly $1 billion in additional contributions to PURL. This includes five new participating countries and eight additional contributions from states that were already supporting the program. For the first time, PURL participation expanded beyond the Alliance with the accession of Australia and New Zealand.

Sybiha thanked each country participating in the program for its support of Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported, the governments of Australia and New Zealand have decided to provide Ukraine with a new military assistance package worth more than $70 million.

PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is an initiative launched by the United States and NATO to supply Ukraine with critically important weapons by enabling Alliance members to finance the delivery of US-produced arms and equipment. The mechanism allows partner countries to fund procurement according to Ukraine's prioritized list of needs, agreed upon with the US and NATO.

The initiative makes it possible to coordinate contributions so that funding is targeted and fast. Instead of separate procurement efforts, each country makes a financial contribution to a joint package, which the US uses to supply the necessary weapons and equipment.
