Two More UAE Relief Aircraft Touch Down In Sri Lanka With Disaster Aid

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Two additional humanitarian aid flights from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake yesterday afternoon, strengthening ongoing relief efforts for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwa.

The aircraft, both C-17 Globemaster III transporters and among the largest operated by the UAE Air Force, flew in from Abu Dhabi carrying a fresh consignment of emergency supplies. The shipment includes vehicles for disaster response operations and food rations intended for families impacted by the severe weather conditions.

Representatives from the UAE Embassy in Colombo, officials from Sri Lanka's Ministry of Defence, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), and personnel from the tri-forces were present at the airport to receive the latest consignment.

The arrivals follow a similar UAE relief mission on Tuesday (02), when another C-17 aircraft brought in humanitarian supplies alongside a 76-member Emirati Humanitarian Relief Team. That consignment included food packs, safety kits, tents, and other essential items, which were formally handed over to Sri Lankan authorities for distribution.

The UAE government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sri Lanka through the ongoing recovery phase, underscoring the strong bilateral ties and long-standing cooperation between the two nations.
