Qatar Unveils Plan For New Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Headquarters In Doha Corniche
Doha, Qatar: Qatar announced on Thursday that it is dedicating a key site on Doha's waterfront for a new Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) headquarters.
This is according to an announcement by Qatar News Agency (QNA) on X as it also shared architectural renderings for the project.
The agency stated that the 1985 General Post Office, known for its distinctive modernist 'pigeonholes' in front of Doha Corniche, will be assimilated into the complex.
"This major public building will be preserved and adapted in part as a space for public programming associated with the Ministry's role in cultural diplomacy," it stated.
The design of the headquarters has been commissioned to architect Frida Escobedo, the founder of the Mexico City & New York-based Frida Escobedo Studio.
It further announced that the 70,000 sq m complex will be a combination of new construction and an adaptive reuse of the historic structure at the site.
