Amman, Nov. 27 (Petra)-- A United Nations delegation, led by the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territory, Ramiz Al-Khalaf, visited the Jordanian Field Hospital South Gaza/8 on Thursday.
The delegation was received by the hospital's commanding officer.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the hospital's operational mechanisms and its approach to handling a wide range of medical cases. They also reviewed the available medical specialties and the scale of daily humanitarian and therapeutic services provided to meet the growing needs of Gaza's residents.
The UN officials expressed their appreciation for the hospital's medical and relief efforts, highlighting in particular the vital role of the "Restoring Hope" initiative through its Limb Reconstruction Support Unit. They commended the unit's specialized services for critical cases requiring immediate surgical intervention, especially given the limited capabilities of Gaza's medical facilities.
The delegation affirmed its commitment to sustained coordination and strengthened cooperation to help alleviate the suffering of patients and improve healthcare delivery.
The visit comes as part of broader efforts to explore avenues for expanding collaboration to support Gaza's healthcare system and enhance engagement with institutions and organizations operating in the sector. These efforts aim to facilitate the mission of the Jordanian field hospital in fulfilling its humanitarian duty and embodying the Kingdom's steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
