Russia Dismisses Claims on Nearing to End Ukraine War as Premature
(MENAFN) The Kremlin has pushed back against speculation that a resolution to the war in Ukraine is imminent, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov cautioning on Wednesday that such assumptions are unfounded.
"It's too early to say that," Peskov stated when asked whether the warring parties had reached an unprecedented proximity to a peace settlement.
Peskov further warned against reading too deeply into purported recordings of diplomatic exchanges between Russian and American officials, suggesting the disclosures were designed to sabotage active negotiation channels.
Bloomberg released two call transcripts Wednesday revealing that the Trump administration had engaged in covert discussions with Moscow regarding a comprehensive 28-point framework for ending hostilities in Ukraine. The news agency did not reveal how it obtained the documents.
Moscow rejected Bloomberg's published records as fabricated, characterizing the unauthorized disclosure as a deliberate effort to undermine peace negotiations.
The same day, the Kremlin acknowledged that a U.S. diplomatic team—which includes President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff alongside other high-ranking officials—is scheduled to arrive in Moscow in the coming week for consultations on a potential Ukraine peace framework.
