Dharmendra had no industry ties but entered acting. He debuted in Bollywood with the 1960 film 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere,' directed by Arjun Hingorani.
In Dharmendra's debut film 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere,' Balraj Sahni and Kumkum were in lead roles with him. The movie was made on a budget of 4 lakhs. However, this film didn't bring him much success.
After his debut, Dharmendra worked in 60s films like 'Milan Ki Bela,' 'Phool Aur Patthar,' and 'Aaye Din Bahar Ke.' These films were hits, and his star rose. He acted in about 300 films in his career.
Dharmendra gave many superhit films in his career.
