Diplomatic efforts to be used to end Russia-Ukraine conflict— Erdogan
(MENAFN) All diplomatic tools should be utilized to end the war between Russia and Ukraine through a just and lasting peace, the Turkish president said Sunday, as he met his French counterpart on the margins of the G20 leaders’ summit.
The meeting between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Emmanuel Macron covered bilateral relations in addition to regional and global developments, according to general statements shared on Turkish social media.
Erdogan said Türkiye remains committed to pushing for dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv and will keep working to bring both sides together "for peaceful negotiations."
He emphasized the need to uphold the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure humanitarian relief reaches those in need, adding that the key to long-term stability is a two-state solution — an outcome Ankara continues to advocate for.
Erdogan also underlined that joint efforts to advance cooperation between Türkiye and France are “important.”
Both leaders are in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the G20 summit, a two-day gathering focused on finding responses to several of the world’s most urgent challenges.
