The newly appointed ambassador was born in Kibbutz Ginegar, and later his family moved to Har Gilo near Jerusalem. He graduated from the Hebrew University, where he studied linguistics, Arabic language and literature, as well as public policy. After serving in the IDF, he joined the Israeli Foreign Ministry's diplomatic course in 1994 and worked on Middle Eastern affairs, including issues related to Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, and Yemen.
