Modi Attends G20 Without Trump Congress Taunts

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) New Delhi ~ Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday left for Johannesburg to attend the first G20 Summit in Africa, even as the Congress took a swipe saying he is travelling“safely and securely” since US President Donald Trump is boycotting the meet.

During his stay, Modi will also join leaders at the sixth IBSA Summit on the sidelines of the G20. He is expected to speak in all major sessions and hold bilateral meetings with several heads of state.

The summit, under South Africa's presidency, focuses on the themes of solidarity, equality and sustainability. Calling it a“particularly special summit,” the PM, in his departure statement, said that he will present India's vision of“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and“One Earth, One Family, One Future”.

“I look forward to my interactions with leaders of the partner countries and participation in the 6th IBSA Summit scheduled on the sidelines of the Summit,” according to the statement.

Announcing his visit over a post on X, Modi wrote,“Various global issues will be discussed there. Will be meeting various world leaders during the Summit.”

As the Prime Minister departed for South Africa, the Congress took a dig, claiming he was attending the summit“safely and securely” in the absence of US President Donald Trump, who is boycotting the meeting.
