Moscow Is Prepared to Reengage in Ukraine Talks

(MENAFN) Russia on Wednesday indicated that it still stands prepared to reinitiate discussions concerning Ukraine, reacting to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s renewed optimism about reviving the Istanbul negotiation channel.

Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov informed journalists that Moscow continues to support dialogue and dismissed claims that it is responsible for the extended standstill.

“Moscow is open to continuation; Moscow is open to negotiations,” he stated, as cited by a news agency.

He repeated the assertion that the delay stems from the reluctance of the "Kyiv regime."

Earlier in the day, Erdogan remarked that Türkiye believes the Istanbul mechanism could be restored “with a comprehensive framework that can address acute problems.”

He noted that Ankara facilitated three sessions of Russia-Ukraine talks this year, during which “progress was made” and both parties were able to directly address ceasefire and peace matters.

Erdogan characterized the encounters as a significant diplomatic turning point and affirmed Türkiye’s preparedness to evaluate any suggestions from Moscow that could secure a ceasefire and create a foundation for a fair and enduring peace.
