Jordan Strengthens Tourism With New Initiatives
The ministry's report lists measures taken in the country in October to boost tourist attraction, including the participation of around 25,000 people in“Urdunna Jannah,” a program that strengthens domestic tourism by supporting the service sector, and the agreement with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority to regulate tourism-related professions and activities.
Qatraneh Castle was added to a local tourism route, and school trips were launched to the historic city of Petra, in addition to joint campaigns for cleaning and raising awareness about tourist sites. Jordan also received international recognition, with Azraq North being selected by UN Tourism as one of the world's best tourist villages for 2025.
The King Abdullah I Palace was also added to the Architectural Heritage Register of the Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization of the Arab League (Alecso) by the Jordan Department of Antiquities, which also launched preservation and rehabilitation projects in Abila, Machaerus, and Jerash, and completed seven field archaeological projects with international missions.
Listing a series of other initiatives, including the expansion of air connectivity, Petra reports that the progress and achievements in October were aligned with Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision, which aims to boost competitiveness, diversify tourism products, strengthen local communities, and support sustainable growth in the country.
