“As part of Rheinmetall's CMD 2025 presentation, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger has just announced that the first Skyranger 35 SPAAG mounted on the Leopard 1 chassis will be delivered to Ukraine as early as next week,” the report states.

It is noted that Rheinmetall will deliver Skyranger 35 SPAAGs mounted on the Leopard 1 chassis to Ukraine as part of a contract worth several hundred million euros. The payment for the contract was made by an unnamed EU country using frozen Russian assets.

According to the manufacturer, the Leopard 1-mounted Skyranger 35 combines the mobility and protection of a proven tracked chassis with the high effectiveness of a gun-based air-defense system. The system is equipped with a KDG 35/1000 revolver-type autocannon, caliber 35 × 228 mm, with a firing rate of 1,000 rounds per minute and an effective range of up to 4 kilometers.

The new Skyranger 35 guns will provide enhanced protection against low-flying targets, primarily drones, while the use of the Leopard 1 tracked chassis offers better mobility and protection in complex combat conditions.
