Patients Suffer As KTH Suspends Sehat Card Plus Services Amid Unpaid Dues
The Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) administration has temporarily suspended free treatment facilities under the Sehat Card Plus programme due to the provincial government's failure to clear outstanding payments owed to the insurance company.
According to a hospital spokesperson, the delay has created significant financial strain on the institution, forcing it to halt services provided under the programme.
The administration stated that not only has the Sehat Card service been suspended, but several other medical facilities are also being affected due to the mounting financial pressure. Patients and their attendants are facing serious difficulties as the suspension has deprived them of essential free healthcare services.

Under a cooperative system with other MTI hospitals, medicines will be supplied through their pharmacies, with financial adjustments to be settled later.
Hospital officials added that they are in constant contact with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department and the Sehat Sahulat Programme administration to restore the Sehat Card services as soon as possible. The public has been urged to cooperate with the hospital during this challenging period.
Khyber Teaching Hospital is the second-largest health facility in Peshawar, receiving thousands of patients daily from across the province. Patients and their families say the suspension of free treatment has caused immense hardship for those who rely on the programme.
