In Orakzai, elders of the Utman Khel tribe sharply criticised the police during an urgent press conference held at the Orakzai Press Club's Hangu office, alleging that DSP Mehboob Khan carried out a biased operation favouring the rival Ferozkhel tribe.

The tribal elders claimed that during the ongoing dispute between the Utman Khel and Ferozkhel tribes, police demolished several Utman Khel structures and labelled them as“militant hideouts”, while leaving the Ferozkhel positions untouched.

They said such actions had further escalated tensions between the two communities.

According to the elders, jirga efforts and boundary-marking measures were already underway at Sra Mella to resolve the tribal conflict, but DSP Mehboob Khan abruptly ended the jirga for reasons that were not explained.

They urged the government and police authorities to stop one-sided actions and avoid steps that could fuel unrest instead of restoring peace.

DSP Mehboob Khan, however, dismissed the accusations as baseless, stating that the police were acting strictly in accordance with the law. He said the force remained completely neutral and had not exerted any undue pressure on any party involved.
