QCAOC Issues New Book On Civilizational Dialogue, Exchange


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilizations (QCAOC) has issued a new book on civilizational dialogue and exchange, as part of its plan for 2023 – 2027 that aims to support publishing works on enhancing communication and civilizational alliance in various areas.

Written by Dr. Hind Al Hammadi from the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) and Dr. Nabil Al Mariri, a researcher and journalist from Qatar News Agency (QNA), the book includes five chapters that shed light on the Qatari experience in civilizational dialogue and exchange, based on analysis on the state's interests in civilizational exchange and its success factors, as it represents a key pillar in establishing a society that values coexistence and understanding between different races, religions, and civilizations.


The first chapter presents an understanding of the concept, dimensions, and forms of civilizational dialogue and exchange. The second chapter delves into the most notable developmental transformations witnessed by Qatar since the 90s, after HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani took over the position of leading the country, which resulted in a qualitative developmental and civilizational leap.


The third chapter explores the strength and success sources and factors in Qatar, such as its geographical location, economic and investment capabilities, population diversity, stability and security, wise leadership, commitment to international human values, responsible openness, as well as international partnerships.


The fourth chapter discusses Qatar's pivotal role in civilizational dialogue and exchange, which includes cultural and religious dialogue, development, education, sport, and humanitarian work, in addition to the role of diplomatic conferences that represent key platforms for Qatar's exchange with the world.


The topic of women is the focus of the fifth chapter, describing them as an important addition that contributed to key related matters. The writers shed light on the leading role of HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF) for Education, Science and Community Development, in supporting Qatar's efforts in civilizational dialogue and exchange through local and international initiatives.


The chapter additionally touches on Her Highness's contribution to the establishment of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), where she was selected by the former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, as a member of its High-Level Group that was involved in laying the basis of the UNAOC.


Dr. Al Hammadi and Dr. Al Mariri underline in the conclusion of the book, on the topic of dialogue in a complicated world, that Qatar manages to present a civilizational model that reflects its authentic Islamic values and rich culture, regardless of the modern challenges that affect such things.


According to the book, Qatar furthermore became a great representation of Islamic civilization that is known for its ability to interact with different civilizations, as well as instill the concepts of freedom, justice, and coexistence.
