350M Afs Road Construction Launched In Ghazni
GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a 30-kilometer road has begun at a cost of 350 million afghanis in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Wednesday.
Governor spokesman Mawlawi Ezatullah Syedi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the road will connect Ajristan district with Malistan district through Khoni-Kotal and stretch from Khakrez Bazaar of Malistan to Ajristan.
He said the construction of the 30km long and nine-metre wide road had been funded by the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), and its construction would be completed within 18 months.
According to Syedi, the new road will not only connect Ajristan and Malistan, but also facilitate residents' travel to Ghazni city and play an important role in trade and social development.
Mohammad Mir, a resident, explained:“For years we suffered due to the poor condition of this road. Many patients died on the way while being taken to hospitals in Ghazni. With this road, many of our problems will be solved.”
The Khoni-Kotal section is difficult and complicated, but after the project's completion, significant ease will be created for locals, he added.
A few weeks ago, reconstruction work on a 41-kilometre road between Ghazni and Paktika provinces was also launched by the MoPW.
