Humanitarian Leaders Outline Paths For Smarter, Faster Crisis Response And Recovery


(MENAFN- Mid-East Info) Dubai, UAE,November 2025- As part of the Knowledge Summit 2025, hosted by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the session titled 'From Crisis to Capability: Pathways for Displacement and Recovery' brought together renowned humanitarians, economists, policymakers, and industry leaders to highlight the significant role of knowledge and innovation as key drivers for recovery and resilience.



The panel moderated by Rula Tarawneh, Senior Presenter, CNBC, featured an esteemed lineup of speakers, including Olga Zubritskaya-Devyatkina, Regional Manager, Arab States, United Nations Volunteers (UNV), Mohamed Hedi Bchir, Strategic Initiatives Adviser of UNDP, Sajeda Shawa, Head of Office, OCHA United Arab Emirates, and Khaled Khalifa, Senior Advisor to the High Commissioner and Representative, UNHCR Gulf Cooperation Council Countries. Each speaker shared insights drawn from their experience in the session's topics, contributing diverse perspectives that enriched the dialogue.

During the conversation, speakers explored how humanitarian systems respond in the first 24 hours of a crisis and the need for stronger coordination among governments, NGOs, and international agencies. Sajeda Shawa noted that effective humanitarian actions begin with identifying responsibilities and aligning all efforts of different stakeholders from the initial hours of the crisis.

Meanwhile, emphasising the importance of unified action in the earliest hours of an emergency, Khaled Khalifa said,“In every crisis, our priority is to activate fast, coordinated responses that bring together all actors on the ground.”

The session concluded with several key takeaways. Participants highlighted early rescue, clear communication channels, technology integration, private sector contributions, active involvement of local communities, and rapid assessment mechanisms as the critical factors needed for supporting displaced communities.

The insights shared during the session underscored the need for a collective commitment to leverage innovative and data-driven knowledge and equip communities to better prepare to navigate unprecedented crises.
