In line with its commitment to fostering an integrated work environment that promotes balance between professional and family life and in conjunction with World Children's Day on 20 November, H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), inaugurated the Corporation's new childcare center dedicated to the children of PCFC employees. The facility, launched in partnership with British Orchard Nursery, was unveiled during an official ceremony held at the Corporation's headquarters, attended by H.E. Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of PCFC, Dr. Vandana Gandhi, CEO and Founder of British Orchard Nursery, along with a number of sector and department leaders.

In his remarks, H.E. bin Sulayem emphasized that the new childcare center represents a strategic milestone that underscores the Corporation's alignment with the Dubai Government's vision to support families and early childhood development. He highlighted the Corporation's commitment to establishing a fully equipped center that offers high-quality services, providing a safe and nurturing environment that supports children's growth and learning from their earliest years. This, he noted, contributes significantly to the family stability and peace of mind of working parents during their workday.

Bin Sulayem affirmed that PCFC places employee wellbeing at the forefront of its priorities and is dedicated to creating conditions that help employees maintain a healthy work–life balance. Providing an on-site childcare center reflects the Corporation's belief that an ideal work environment begins with social and family stability, ultimately enhancing performance and productivity.

He added:“The launch of the childcare center is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting Dubai Government's efforts to empower working women and promote a family-friendly, flexible workplace that elevates employee satisfaction and productivity. The initiative also aligns with the goals of Universal Children's Day, which highlights children's rights to care, protection, education, and development values that form an integral part of the Corporation's social responsibility and sustainable development strategy.”

For her part, Dr. Vandana Gandhi expressed her pleasure at opening a new British Orchard Nursery branch at the PCFC headquarters. She noted that having a childcare center within the workplace offers employees, particularly working mothers, a supportive environment that enhances their peace of mind throughout the workday. She credited this progress to the wise vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his continuous efforts to empower women in the UAE. Dr. Gandhi added that British Orchard Nursery, which has grown alongside the UAE community for over two decades, continues to expand its partnerships with more than 15 government entities across the country, adopting modern, child-centered educational approaches that foster curiosity, develop natural abilities, and build self-confidence.

The opening of the childcare center comes as part of PCFC's initiatives to provide an attractive and sustainable work environment that meets the needs of its employees and supports their active professional participation without compromising family responsibilities. This step reflects the Corporation's ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life in the workplace and to reinforce a culture of social responsibility
