One hundred seventy buildings get damaged in huge fire in Japan


(MENAFN) A large-scale fire broke out late Tuesday in a neighborhood in Oita, a city in southwestern Japan, destroying more than 170 buildings, according to local reports.

The blaze spread rapidly through the densely packed residential area, forcing authorities to evacuate over 170 residents to ensure their safety. Firefighters have been working throughout the night and into Wednesday to contain the flames and prevent further damage.

One person remains missing amid the chaos, while emergency services continue search and rescue operations. Officials have urged nearby residents to stay away from the affected zone and follow evacuation orders as the firefighting efforts continue. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
