Asian Bulk Logistics (ABL), headquartered in Indonesia, was honoured with the Bulk Logistics Excellence prize at the IBJ Awards ceremony, attended by more than 500 shipping industry leaders in the ballroom of the iconic Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, England.
In a highly competitive category, judges voted for ABL and lauded the company’s commitment to sustainable growth, its ambitious global diversification plans and its commitment to decarbonisation.
“This is a tremendous honour for ABL and also international recognition of our strategy to diversify our business into new sectors, expand our international presence and develop sustainable growth. I would sincerely like to thank the judges and IBJ for this award, which I dedicate to all of my colleagues, business partners and stakeholders at AB”,” said Ika Bethari, President Director of ABL.
ABL is committed to growing its multi-billion-dollar company through continuous transformation and improvement. ABL has a strong commitment to expand its core businesses in the Indonesian market and achieve a continuously upward graph for its international business. The vision of the management is to make ABL a world-class integrated logistics and infrastructure solutions provider that brings value to our global customers.
Apart from Indonesian businesses, ABL is continuously seeking opportunities to expand its presence in the international markets and intends to have a balanced portfolio with commodity diversification.
ABL’s global footprint has been continuously increasing over the recent years and in terms of commodity portfolio, ABL currently handles coal and nickel ore in Indonesia, while the organisation handles ammonia, bauxite, manganese ore, iron ore and various other bulk cargo in the international market.
The acquisitions of One Rail Australia (ORA) in 2023 and Transhipment Services Australia (TSA) in 2025 marked important milestones, establishing ABL as their sole shareholder. The acquisitions of ORA and TSA were designed to strengt’en ABL’s expanding global network of logistics and infrastructure services across both land and sea.
With ORA, we identified strong synergies in above-rail operations, which form the backbone of ’ustralia’s commodity transport system. By securing the intellectual property and expertise of this business, ABL not only gained a foothold i’ Australia’s rail market but also created the foundation to expand into other commodities domestically and pursue future growth in rail logistics globally.
TSA, meanwhile, enhances our core sea logistics and transhipment capabilities. We identified a clear need for transhipment in certain Australian ports. TSA strengthens ABL’s presence in Australia and provides the flexibility to deploy vessels between Indonesia and Australia depending on operational requirements, improving fleet utilisation and responsiveness to client needs.
Moving forward, ABL is looking to expand its operations into other sectors of shipping, ports, and logistics, with additional plans to explore projects in the gas and chemical tanker segments.
In addition, as part of our commitment to sustainable business practices, we have developed the 2025 Sustainability Report, which highlights our achievements and outlines our strategy for managing our carbon footprint moving forward.
