Polish doctors remove massive tumor misattributed to lifestyle
(MENAFN) Surgeons in Poland removed a 16-kilogram (35-pound), 35-centimeter (14-inch) tumor from a man whose symptoms were initially blamed on poor lifestyle habits, broadcaster TVP World reported Sunday.
The 56-year-old patient had experienced abdominal pain and growing discomfort for a year before undergoing surgery at University Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin.
Scans revealed a massive tumor in the abdominal cavity affecting vital organs, including the kidneys, ureters, part of the pancreas, and major blood vessels. The operation on Thursday lasted about two and a half hours and included removal of the left kidney and a portion of the colon along with the tumor.
