Greene acknowledges mistakes amid Trump feud
(MENAFN) US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has expressed regret for her part in what she called “toxic politics” amid a growing feud with President Donald Trump.
The Georgia lawmaker, known for her radical conservative views and combative speeches, has recently criticized Trump despite previously defending him passionately. On Friday, Trump labeled Greene a “traitor” and accused her of shifting toward the “far left.”
In an interview aired Sunday, Greene acknowledged that Trump’s remarks were “hurtful” but emphasized her commitment to “end the fighting in politics.”
“The most hurtful thing Trump said, which is absolutely untrue, is he called me a traitor,” she said, warning that such language can “radicalize people” and endanger her life.
“I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics. It’s very bad for our country,” Greene added, noting that the recent rise in political violence, including the assassination of conservative organizer and podcaster Charlie Kirk, motivated her to “put down the knives in politics.”
She stated she would continue advocating for the release of all remaining unredacted files related to financier Jeffrey Epstein. Trump has urged Republicans not to assist Democrats in publicizing what he calls “the Epstein hoax,” claiming opponents seek to undermine his presidency.
Greene has also criticized US aid to Israel and Ukraine and suggested that Epstein may have been an Israeli agent.
