S. Korea, Qatar Forge Expanded Energy-AI Collaboration
(MENAFN) South Korea's Acting Prime Minister Kim Min-seok and Qatar's Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi convened Wednesday to forge expanded partnerships spanning energy resources, artificial intelligence innovation, and cutting-edge technology sectors.
The high-level bilateral meeting took place in Seoul, where officials explored strategic collaboration opportunities in liquefied natural gas supply chains and AI development, South Korean media reported.
Kim Min-seok emphasized the critical trade relationship between the two nations in an official statement: "Qatar is the second-largest supplier of LNG to South Korea, and our country has secured the highest volume of LNG carrier orders from Qatar."
The acting prime minister signaled ambitions for broader cooperation beyond traditional energy ties: "We hope to expand our cooperative relationship with Qatar in various areas, not only in energy but also in the AI sector."
Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi reciprocated interest in strengthening energy sector collaboration while recognizing South Korean corporations' substantial role in developing Qatar's infrastructure framework, according to media.
The discussions underscore Seoul's strategy to diversify its AI technology partnerships while maintaining robust energy security through Middle Eastern gas supplies.
