Türkiye Underscores Strategic Cooperation in US Talks

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed that “it is extremely important that the US support order prosperity and stability in Syria,” during a live interview on a Turkish broadcaster.

He recalled the September meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump, noting that they addressed pivotal subjects shaping bilateral ties and regional developments.

Fidan stated that Türkiye’s recent “foreign policy performance” and its credibility as an ally have rendered it “a sought-after actor for cooperation on many issues.”

He explained that the discussions in the US once more highlighted matters of vital significance for both nations, the broader region, and worldwide peace and stability.

Fidan stressed that sustaining a mutual perspective and close cooperation is crucial to protecting and promoting Türkiye’s national priorities, noting that the agenda at the White House covered Syria, Palestine, and Ukraine.

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s initiatives in Syria — from promoting stability to facilitating refugee repatriation and backing the new administration’s quest for international recognition — Fidan described these undertakings as “rarely seen in history.”

He remarked that countries observing the situation closely acknowledge the ethical and honorable nature of Türkiye’s approach.

Fidan further emphasized that Türkiye’s commitment to safeguarding Syria’s territorial unity and the welfare of its population, while aiming to progress collaboratively with neighboring states, represents a strategy that only nations with profound strategic traditions can implement.
