Trump denies knowing about “the girls” in Epstein emails
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump insisted he has no knowledge of “the girls” referenced in recently released emails written by Jeffrey Epstein, saying he is unaware of what Epstein was referring to. “I know nothing about that. They would have announced that a long time ago,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, according to general accounts of the remarks.
One of Epstein’s emails asserted that Trump “knew about the girls,” apparently alluding to Trump’s past explanation that he had expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for attempting to recruit young women from the club in Palm Beach. Trump has previously claimed that Epstein “stole” women from his property and that he removed him because Epstein was a “creep.”
Shifting to political rivals, Trump — who earlier in the day asked the Justice Department to investigate several high-profile Democrats for their associations with Epstein — implied that authorities should examine why Epstein spent extensive time with influential figures including Bill Clinton and “(former Harvard President) Larry Summers.” He noted that Epstein was often around individuals in powerful roles.
Trump described his relationship with Epstein as antagonistic, saying, “Jeffrey Epstein and I had a very bad relationship for many years. But he also saw strength, because I was president, so he dictated a couple of memos to himself.”
He continued, “You’re gonna find out what did he know, with respect to Bill Clinton, with respect to the head of Harvard, with respect to all of those people that he knew, including JP Morgan Chase.”
