(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) held discussions with the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria to explore avenues of bilateral co-operation aimed at enhancing health awareness and preventive education within school environments.
The talks focused on the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of health and prevention among students and the wider school community. During the meeting at the ministry's headquarters, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha Zayed Qaqaa Alruwaili and Acting Director of International Cooperation and Secretary-General of the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Dr Nouf al-Suwaidi met with Global Fund Chair Roslyn Morauta.
The parties discussed shared priorities, particularly the importance of strengthening health awareness in educational settings facing serious health challenges, especially in Africa.
The meeting proposed launching a school-based awareness program featuring activities and workshops designed to prepare students to become future ambassadors of the Global Fund.
The initiative aims to foster youth engagement in humanitarian efforts and establish a youth advisory council as a platform for expressing views on health and social issues, while supporting the Global Fund's governance objectives.
Discussions also explored potential collaboration in promoting students' physical and mental well-being and encouraging youth-led initiatives that reinforce values of responsibility and humanitarian solidarity.
The ministry reaffirmed that health awareness and preventive education are integral to its educational mission. It emphasized its commitment, through international partnerships, to cultivating a safe and stimulating learning environment that nurtures responsible behaviour and contributes to the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, which places human development at the heart of comprehensive and sustainable progress.
