Parliament's Energy Committee Supports Grynchuk's Resignation

The decision was supported by 21 committee members.

It is noted that Grynchuk will be dismissed due to a conflict of interest.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, during her remarks at the committee meeting, Grynchuk stated that“if law enforcement agencies have questions, I am always ready to answer them.”

“I have not made a single unlawful decision, nor have I carried out any instructions except professional ones from my direct leadership,” the minister said.

As reported, on November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced a special operation to expose corruption in the energy sector The investigation established that members of a criminal organization had built a large-scale scheme of influence over strategic state-sector enterprises, including the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company“Energoatom”.

Anti-corruption bureau officers conducted searches at the home of businessman and co-owner of Kvartal 95 Studio Tymur Mindic, as well as at the residence of Minister of Justice German Galushchenko, who previously served as Minister of Energy.

On November 11, as part of the investigation into corruption in the energy sector, law enforcement officers detained five individuals and served notices of suspicion to seven. These included a businessman - the head of the criminal organization, a former adviser to the Minister of Energy, the Executive Director for Physical Protection and Security of the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company“Energoatom”, as well as four individuals working in a back-office unit responsible for money-laundering operations.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Minister of Justice Galushchenko and Minister of Energy Grynchuk must resign, and Prime Minister Svyrydenko submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a motion for the dismissal of these two ministers

The Verkhovna Rada will consider the resolution on the dismissal of Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk and Minister of Justice German Galushchenko on Tuesday, November 18.
