China Strongly Objects To US Plan To Sell Arms To Taiwan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIJING, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- China on Friday expressed deep discontent with a US plan to sell Taiwan USD 330 million worth of arms to Taiwan reiterating Beijing eyes it as an inseparable part of "single China."
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Li Jian was reacting, at a news conference, to reports that Washington endorsed a plan to sell weapons to Taiwan -- including spare parts for F-16 and C-130 Hercules aircraft.
The Chinese television station, CCTV, quoted Li as saying Washington's arms sales to Taiwan breach statements that had been inked by China and the US regarding the Chinese sovereignty.
The American step violates the international law and sends a dangerous and erroneous message to separatist forces, he added. (end)
