Fadzai Chipato is a lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Great Zimbabwe University. She holds a PhD in International Development Studies from China Agricultural University in Beijing, China. Her research focuses on the intersections of climate change, energy, land governance, livelihoods, and displacement, and how these dynamics reinforce inequality and marginalisation of Indigenous communities. Her academic work draws from intersectionality and political economy frameworks. Fadzai is an early-career researcher with substantial experience in conducting participatory research, in-depth interviews, workshops, and reporting for NGOs and research institutions in Southern Africa and Southeast Asia. She is also a recipient of the Social Science Research Council's 2024 Africa Peacebuilding Network (APN) Individual Research Fellowship (IRF Award, the International Poverty Reduction Centre in China (IPRCC), and the Sam Moyo African Institute of Agrarian Studies (SMAIAS) in Harare.
