Nine Go Missing After Chinese Fishing Vessel Overturns Off S. Korea
(MENAFN) Nine individuals remain unaccounted for Monday following the capsizing of a Chinese fishing vessel in waters off South Korea's southwestern coastline.
Two survivors from the 11-person crew were pulled from the water by a passing cargo ship, according to media.
The 99-ton vessel overturned around 150 kilometers (93 miles) southwest of Eocheong Island at 8.53 am on Monday (2353GMT Sunday), the Gunsan Coast Guard said.
Seoul deployed four patrol vessels and helicopters to conduct search operations for the missing crew members.
A separate Chinese fishing vessel also overturned near the southwestern shores of South Korea's Gageo Island on Sunday, resulting in three crew members missing and two others in cardiac arrest, while six crew members were successfully rescued.
