Yoon Suk Yeol, Wife Face Home Raid

(MENAFN) South Korean prosecutors conducted a raid on the residence of former President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, Kim Keon Hee, on Thursday as part of an inquiry into favoritism accusations tied to the 2022 relocation of the presidential office and residence, a news agency reported.

A special investigation unit, directed by Special Counsel Min Joong-ki, searched seven different sites, including Yoon’s home in southern Seoul.

The team also inspected the office of Kim’s previous company, Covana Contents, along with an interior design firm, 21 Gram, which participated in renovating the presidential office and residence.

The two companies are suspected of benefiting from preferential treatment during the relocation process.

The investigation focuses on assertions that 21 Gram—despite lacking proper authorization—was selected to carry out renovation work after sponsoring exhibitions managed by Covana Contents.

In 2024, the national audit agency revealed that 21 Gram had begun construction on the presidential residence even before officially signing a contract and had breached construction regulations by subcontracting the project to 15 unlicensed companies.

Both Yoon and Kim are currently detained, facing separate legal proceedings for martial law and corruption charges, respectively.
