Doha, Qatar: The Sudanese Ambassador to the State of Qatar H E Badreddine Abdullah Mohammed Ahmed said that the Republic of the Sudan was grateful to the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Qatari government and the people of Qatar for being the“first among few who had sincerely supported Sudan.”

During a press briefing held at the Sudanese Embassy headquarters in Doha, the Sudanese Ambassador noted that the State of Qatar, with close coordination with the Minister of State for International Cooperation H E Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, had been among the first to come to help the Sudanese people displaced after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) infiltrated the city of El Fasher.

He remarked that what transpired from the RSF in the western Sudanese city was not unprecedented, but was rather their“mode of operation” which had led to the suffering citizens in the many parts of Sudan they invaded.

“Throughout the entire duration of this war, the RSF never entered a city or village without the inhabitants fleeing in horror after narrowly escaping execution,” said the Ambassador.

He added that for the first time in Sudan's history, and much like what was done in Gaza, the RSF had used starvation as a weapon against people, forcing those helplessly besieged in El Fasher to resort to consuming animal hides and feed.

Whoever dared attempt bring in food for those starving in El Fasher, he continued, was murdered in cold blood.

Among the blood-curdling sights from the siege of El Fasher, he added, was the RSF's targeting of hospitals, refugee camps, food distribution points, and mosques during sunrise and Friday prayers where people gathered in abundance, using artillery and drone strikes.

Responding to a question from The Peninsula regarding Qatari-Sudanese coordination in terms of healthcare for those displaced, the Ambassador stated that“nonstop” Qatari humanitarian aid was being provided for the people affected by the conflict.

He also noted that the Qatari-Sudanese partnership was extensive, with the two sides engaged in ongoing coordination.

“Qatar and Sudan have enjoyed strong, long-standing, multifaceted relations, and we hope Qatar will be a key partner in the reconstruction of post-war Sudan,” he added.

The Ambassador issued a plea to the international community, with particular emphasis on the UN Security Council, the African Union, and the Arab League, to designate the RSF militia as a“terrorist organization” and to bring its leaders and members to international justice.
