Herkulaas Mve Combrink
- Senior lecturer/ Co-Director, University of the Free State
I hold a background in Health Science and Computer Science with a specialisation on Data science and Artificial Intelligence. I am the Co Director - Interdisciplinary Centre for Digital Futures and the head of the Knowledge Mapping Lab - a research group I started to manage infodemics and human language technology innovation.
I research AI4ED, Medical Science, and demystifying misinformation through science. Unfortunately, argumentative fallacies and a lack of evidence tends to drive emotional social discourse that sometimes lead to infodemics, and I try my best with the team to make sense of it so that we can mitigate harm.
I have worked on several projects related to health systems and knowledge mapping, and continue to assist in managing infodemics, public health, and other societal impact projects. With years' experience in AI, Analytics, and project management, I use my skills to add value to society.
