Kuwait UN Rep. Affirms Youth Empowerment Key To Building Sustainable Societies
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
DOHA, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Tareq Al-Bannai affirmed on Tuesday, the importance of empowering youth to build fair and sustainable societies, stressing that investing in young people is investing in the future.
Speaking at the Second World Summit for Social Development Held in the Qatari capital Doha, Al-Bannai said discussions on youth are "a conversation about hope, possibility, and the energy that keeps societies moving forward."
He praised the creativity and courage of young people worldwide but noted that many still face barriers to education and decent work, particularly women, people with disabilities, and those living in poverty or conflict.
Al-Bannai said investing in youth means promoting dignity, fairness, and belonging, calling for stronger cooperation among governments, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society to meet youth aspirations.
He stressed that development "must not be done for youth, but with them," noting that their participation makes societies more just and resilient.
Al-Bannai concluded by calling for a shared promise to "listen more, trust more, and invest more in the creativity and leadership of young people everywhere." (pickup previous)
