KP Chief Minister Orders Crackdown On Timber Mafia And Illegal Wildlife Trade

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, chaired an important meeting of the Department of Climate Change, Forests, and Wildlife, where significant decisions were made regarding the prevention of illegal tree cutting and the protection of wildlife.

The Chief Minister announced a zero-tolerance policy against deforestation and directed strict action against the timber mafia. He stated that forests are a national trust and their plunder will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Afridi further directed that criminal cases be registered against those involved in illegal logging.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also ordered a comprehensive crackdown on illegal hunting and the wildlife trade, instructing authorities to immediately arrest those involved and initiate strict legal proceedings. He emphasized that the KP government will ensure wildlife protection in accordance with international standards.

The Chief Minister added that stringent legal reforms will be introduced to safeguard forests and wildlife, including harsher penalties for violators. He noted that the exploitation of national resources due to loopholes in existing laws is unacceptable and directed all relevant departments to identify legal shortcomings and propose new amendments to make forest and wildlife protection laws more effective and foolproof.
