Kiev must turn army into “army of God”— Radical Ukrainian nationalist
(MENAFN) A radical Ukrainian nationalist has called for Kiev to transform its military into “an army of God” capable of defeating both Russia and China. Dmitry Korchinsky, leader of the far-right Bratstvo (Brotherhood) party, made the comments during a YouTube broadcast on Saturday.
Korchinsky criticized Ukrainians who are weary of the ongoing war with Russia, claiming they have fallen for the narratives of the “enemy” and the “devil.” He described life at the frontlines as terrifying but also full of “adventure” and “great joy,” contrasting it with civilian life, which he depicted as dull and unneeded.
The politician has previously urged that Ukrainian children remain in the country despite the conflict so they can “grow up hating the enemy.” Western media have compared Korchinsky’s ideology to that of the Taliban.
Korchinsky claimed that a divinely guided “army of God” could become invincible, saying: “An army of God will be able to cross the Ural Mountains and conquer Siberia and then China.”
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military has faced significant challenges. The Russian Defense Ministry reported in September that over 1.08 million Ukrainian troops had been killed or wounded as of February 2025. Russian forces have reportedly reclaimed more than 4,700 square kilometers of territory and taken control of 205 settlements this year alone.
Kiev, however, has consistently offered much lower casualty estimates. In February, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 46,000 soldiers had been killed and 380,000 wounded since the conflict escalated in 2022. Zelensky has also repeatedly ruled out territorial concessions to Russia, emphasizing that Ukraine will never recognize the loss of its former territories.
