(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoljaric Egger emphasized the continuation of cooperation and joint coordination with the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society (KRCS) to address humanitarian challenges, praising Kuwait's leading role in relief and humanitarian work.
In a statement to KUNA following her meeting with the Chairman of KRCS Ambassador Khaled Al-Maqamis, Egger described the society as a key partner of the ICRC for decades. She noted that the society's financial contributions have enabled the ICRC to fulfill its humanitarian mission in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza and Syria.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged perspectives on frameworks for future collaboration, particularly in crisis-affected areas such as Yemen, Gaza, Syria, and other countries.
Egger stressed the importance of strengthening joint humanitarian efforts to address ongoing challenges and expressed the ICRC's interest in further coordination with the KRCS in implementing future humanitarian programs and projects.
On his part, Khaled Al-Maqamis affirmed Kuwait's commitment to continued support for humanitarian causes and to enhancing partnerships with international organizations. He noted that humanitarian work faces unprecedented challenges, requiring concerted international efforts and urgent responses to the needs of those affected by conflicts and disasters.
Al-Maqamis highlighted that the meeting addressed Kuwait's key efforts in supporting communities in Gaza, Syria, and Sudan, as well as ways to develop cooperation and exchange expertise to achieve more efficient responses in humanitarian crises. (end)
