69th National School Games: J&K Remains Overall Champion With 4 Gold
Srinagar- The 69th National School Games in Wushu (Under-17 Category) for boys and girls concluded on Saturday at Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal, marking the end of a thrilling sporting spectacle hosted by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K.
In a fitting finale, Team J&K emerged as the overall champion, displaying a commanding performance across both boys' and girls' categories. The host contingent clinched 8 medals - including 4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze, establishing its dominance on home turf. Rajasthan followed closely as the runner-up, with impressive bouts and spirited participation throughout the competition.
The championship witnessed intense and disciplined contests among more than 40 teams from various States and Union Territories, showcasing the rapid rise of Wushu as a leading martial art among school athletes in India.
ADVERTISEMENTAmong the many memorable performances, J&K's Jiya Manhas stole the spotlight in the Girls' 48 kg category, winning Gold with her clinical and composed display. She was also adjudged the Best Female Player of the tournament for her remarkable technical and tactical brilliance.
In the Boys' section, Mohd Arhaan Parray (70 kg), Suryansh Singh (65 kg), and Mohd Haseeb Sheikh (80 kg) also struck Gold for J&K, while Kapish Bharat Rakwal (52 kg) and Rutba Shabir (65 kg, Girls) added to the medal tally with Silver medals.
