UWC Costa Rica Shares Global Agricultural Knowledge At Educational Event
Nine students from UWC Costa Rica, representing different nationalities, held an educational workshop at the Santa Cecilia School in San Isidro, Heredia, where they shared with the students of that institution the protection practices they apply to crops and plants in their countries of origin.
The activity brought together UWC Costa Rica students from Nepal, Nicaragua, Congo, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nigeria, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Kenya, who offered insight into how their communities face the challenge of maintaining the health of their crops.
Twenty-one first- and second-grade students from the Santa Cecilia School participated in this talk, where this interaction served not only as a lesson in agriculture, but also as an enriching cultural exchange about biodiversity and local solutions to global problems.
Gabriel Sibaja Vargas, Co-Curricular Coordinator at UWC Costa Rica, emphasized that“our students' participation in activities such as this one is of enormous educational and human value. At UWC Costa Rica, we firmly believe in experiential learning as a tool for fostering empathy, leadership, and global responsibility.”
“Through spaces where they can share knowledge and explore cultural diversity. Likewise, by connecting authentically with local communities, our students develop essential skills of intercultural cooperation, communication, and meaningful service,” added Sibaja.
This event is a tangible example of UWC Costa Rica's commitment to its mission of developing leaders who promote peace and a sustainable future, equipping them with a deep and practical understanding of the interconnection between culture, the environment, and society.
