President Al-Sisi Inaugurates Grand Egyptian Museum


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Nov 1 (KUNA) - In a glitzy ceremony, attended by a large number of world leaders, President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi inaugurated Saturday the Grand Egyptian Museum.
"This magnificent edifice is not just a place; it is a living testament to the genius of the Egyptian people who built the pyramids and inscribed their story on the walls," President Al-Sisi said in his inaugural speech.
He added that Egypt is the oldest nation known to history.
"Here, civilization took its first steps, and the world witnessed the birth of art, thought and writing. Egypt has inspired all the peoples of the earth, and from the banks of the Nile, civilization and human progress have shone forth."
Seventy-nine official delegations, including 39 heads of state and government, attended the inauguration ceremony including Representative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Sabah.
The ceremony featured special performances, artistic displays, and cultural events that celebrate Egypt's extraordinary heritage and ancient civilization.
The museum's design blends modern architecture with elements inspired by ancient Egypt, featuring spacious halls and advanced display technologies that offer visitors an immersive journey through history.
Located near the iconic Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum is set to become the world's largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization-ancient Egypt.
Built on 480,000 square meters of land overlooking the pyramids, it houses more than 100,000 artefacts, from Pharaoh Khufu's solar boat to Tutankhamun's tomb treasures - displayed together for the first time. (end)
