ASEAN Urges World To End Human Tragedy Of Palestine
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- The Association of Southeast Asian Nations on Saturday called on the international community to use its influence in line with international law to put an end to the human tragedy of Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
This came in a speech delivered by Malaysian Minister of Defense Mohammad Nordin, whose country holds the current rotating ASEAN presidency, during a meeting of ASEAN defense ministers, held in Kuala Lumpur.
Nordin voiced extreme concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where people are facing starvation and deprivation, urging the international community, mainly major countries, to seek to end this tragedy.
However, the Malaysian defense minister welcomed the comprehensive peace plan recently announced by the U.S. to put an end to the conflict in the Palestinian territory.
Meanwhile, he commended the efforts of Cambodia and Thailand to settle their border conflict through dialogue and the support of the U.S. and member states as well as China, to promote this peaceful solution.
In this context, the Malaysian defense minister called for boosting confidence and cementing communication channels in the event of crises and addressing emerging challenges in new security domains. (end)
