(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Syrian Minister of Endowments Mohammad Abu al-Khair Shukri, and his accompanying delegation from the Supreme Fatwa Council, today visited the General Directorate of Endowments at the Qatar's Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs.

During the visit, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments Eng. Hassan Abdullah al-Marzouqi gave a presentation on the origins and development of endowments in Qatar, and an overview of Qatar's law on endowments.
The Syrian minister also viewed models of the key endowment projects, especially the Jabal Thuaileb Endowment Project, which is considered one of the largest of its kind in the country.
Following the visit, the two sides held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed aspects of co-operation between the two sides in the field of endowments, ways to enhance them, and modern electronic systems in endowment management.

They also discussed "digital" endowment initiative launched by the General Directorate of Endowments to keep pace with the tremendous digital and technological developments, as well as artificial intelligence, in developing institutional and community work.
