Zelensky Announces Creation Of Energy Coalition, First Meeting To Be Held Soon
"Recently, after many massive attacks on Ukraine, on our energy system, logistics, water supply, and gas supply [...] a decision was made to organize a coalition to support the energy sector and the energy security of Ukrainians," Zelensky said.
According to him, the first meeting of the coalition will take place soon in video format.
"I think we will soon organize a video meeting of our small team for now, but I am confident that we will be able to unite the efforts of other countries as well. We will need support," he said.
He noted that the coalition's task will be to strengthen the energy sector and secure additional financing for it.
"If we need to import electricity after corresponding strikes, it will not be free of charge. Thank God, we are connected to the European energy grid, so we have the capability - but we may need funding for electricity imports," Zelensky said.
Separately, he thanked the Netherlands for announcing today an energy assistance package worth EUR 25 million.
As reported earlier, following his visit to Norway, Zelensky said that Ukraine will receive about $ 150 million for gas purchases during the winter – the third energy support package from that country this year.
