Amman, October 28 (Petra) – The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) announced the project to introduce composite (plastic) gas cylinders into the Jordanian market has reached its final stages.
In a statement on Tuesday, the EMRC said final technical tests are currently underway to prepare the necessary infrastructure in coordination with the Kingdom's relevant authorities, ahead of granting an official license for sale locally.
The EMRC said it has not yet issued any licenses to import or fill these cylinders, adding that granting a license needs meeting all approved regulatory and technical requirements.
The EMRC said use of the two types of cylinders will be optional for consumers, adding that users will pay any additional costs for their options.
On future steps, the EMRC confirmed it will officially announce the start of local sale once the necessary procedures and approvals are completed, calling on investors and relevant authorities to follow up on the measures within the approved regulatory framework.
