KP Extends Ban On Gold Mining For Another 30 Days Under Section 144
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has extended the ban on gold mining for another 30 days. According to a notification issued by the provincial Home Department, the restriction will remain in effect under Section 144.
The notification stated that the ban applies to the banks of the Indus and Kabul rivers in Swabi, Nowshera, Kohat, and adjoining areas, where reports of illegal mining have been received.
The Home Department noted that illegal mining activities are causing severe damage to riverbanks and contributing to law and order problems, local disputes, and the risk of smuggling.
Officials clarified that district administrations and police have been authorized to seize machinery, vehicles, and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations.
