(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday expressed concern over NATO's plans to intensify its activities in the Arctic region, describing such moves as a source of serious concern.
Addressing the third Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, Lavrov stressed that Russia has no intention of attacking any NATO or European Union member state, and is ready to reaffirm this stance within future security guarantees for the Eurasian region.
He added, however, that European leaders have so far avoided collective consideration of such guarantees.
Lavrov accused Europe of preparing for a potential large-scale war on Russia's western borders, citing several military agreements.
The Russian Minister expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would remain committed to resolving the Ukraine conflict based on the outcomes of the Alaska meeting.
Lavrov arrived in the Belarusian capital earlier Tuesday to attend the two-day international conference on Eurasian security.
The conference aims to strengthen security dialogue among non-Western states, address regional and global challenges, and promote an alternative vision for the international security order. (end)
